[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Quarter plate daguerreotype of a mounted rifleman with his sword and shako.

Quarter plate seated portrait of a finely dressed officer with a knight's head militia officer's saber shown in its scabbard. He holds his plumed shako with upright trumpet insignia flanked by numerals "1" and "8" in his lap with one gloved hand. His hat insignia, buttons, and sword details are highlighted in gold. (Spotting throughout, scratching to lower right, some chemical deterioration to lower right, light weeping effect near upper and left edges; resealed.) Housed in a partial half case (top edge missing, part of cover missing) with mostly illegible inscribed label.
