Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. 2 sixth plate tintypes featuring possibly southern soldiers armed with revolvers.
Portrait of a young man wearing a wide-brimmed hat, a plaid shirt underneath his coat, and a Model 1851 sword belt pate with silver wreath. He holds a saber upward with one hand and shows off a round barrel Colt revolver with the other. (Minor surface punctures throughout, cover glass with adhesive label residue; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case (surface and spine repair, wear). -- Portrait of a young man wearing a coat that has some resemblance to a Richmond Depot coat, with a 2-piece buckle and non-military holster containing a large-frame revolver. (Some minor spots of oxidation, small scratches with loss around mat opening, larger diagonal scratch extending through plate, and overall light contrast; unsealed.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case. -- Together, a pair of tintypes of possibly southern young soldiers.
