[CIVIL WAR]. US Navy seaman's belt and buckle. 

43 1/2 in. length, 1 7/8 in. wide leather belt with iron frame buckle and reinforced brass rivets. Stenciled on inside, "USNY Boston" (U and Y weak) (wear throughout, consistent with age and use).

A rare buckle, worn by captains of guns and boards as well as small arms men and crews of field pieces (See Todd, Vol. III, Fig. 189,560, 562).
