[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 7 daguerreotype portraits of men, highlighted by an example by J. GURNEY.
Half plate portrait of a distinguished, handsome young man identified as "Mr. Samuel Cooke Aunt Louise De Wolf's Father" on inscribed note behind image. (Occasional discolored spotting, minor tarnishing along edge, spotting to mat; resealed.) Mat stamped "J. Gurney, 349 Broadway." Housed in a push-button leatherette case (non-functioning closure, wear throughout). -- Half plate portrait of a young man with mustache and goatee, posing with his hand in his coat. His top hat is just visible on the table next to him. (Image a bit faded, with some stray surface scratches and wipe marks, and spotting throughout.) Housed in a pressed paper case. -- And 5 others, including 2 half plate portraits and 3 quarter plate portraits. -- Together, 7 daguerreotypes featuring men of varying ages. Conditions vary.
