Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Half plate and sixth plate ambrotypes of young females.
Half plate ambrotype portrait of a striking young lady wearing a gold-highlighted cross necklace, belt buckle, and rings, and a hand-tinted flower headdress with fabric veil draped down her back. She holds a single tinted rose in one hand, and a book or closed cased image appears on the table beside her. Her facial expression is serious. (Few surface imperfections, some detail difficult to see in dress due to exposure, but good overall clarity; unsealed.) Housed in a push-button case (surface wear). -- WALKER, photographer. Sixth plate ambrotype standing portrait of a toddler wearing a yellow-tinted dress with pink-tinted shoulder ribbons, and holding onto the top rail of the studio chair beside her. (Few minor spots, very good clarity; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case with velvet pad marked for Walker of Poughkeepsie, NY. -- Together, 2 ambrotype portraits of girls.
