[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 4 half plate daguerreotypes of identified subjects.
Portrait of a mature woman wearing a bonnet and holding a book in one hand and a pair of glasses in the other. A thick book rests on the table next to her. (Significant tarnishing to edges, few heavy scratches, spotting, no preserver present; unsealed.) Housed in a half pressed paper case. The woman is identified by accompanying modern description as "Mrs. William Heiss of Philadelphia." -- Portrait of a middle-aged couple, identified by ink inscription on accompanying piece of paper as William Langthorne and Mary Elizabeth Randall. (Tarnishing along edge, heavy fading, clouding, spotting, spotting to mat; original seals.) housed in a fully separated leatherette case (split at spine, surface wear, loss). -- Portrait of an older woman, possibly without teeth, identified by affixed paper label as Diana Jordan Rogers. (Image very clouded, some fading and spotting throughout, light tarnishing to edges; possibly resealed.) Housed in a leatherette case (heavy wear, loss). -- Portrait of a bearded man identified on accompanying modern paper label as John Moore or Moere[?] (Tarnishing to edges, image very clouded/faded, with spotting to image and mat, no preserver present; resealed.) Housed in a fully separated leatherette case (surface wear). -- Together, 4 half plate daguerreotype portraits of subjects with identification.
