[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 5 fine sixth plate daguerreotypes featuring subjects holding interesting items
Seated portrait of a lovely lady wearing fine lace cuffs and collar, gold-highlighted earrings, and brooch, holding a statuette depicting an unknown male figure. (Oxidation spots to plate affecting statuette and subject's body, tarnished area to upper right, few other spots, significant spotting to mat; resealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case. Period note behind image reads "A. Conrad." -- Seated portrait of a woman holding a female toddler on her lap and a large doll on the child's lap. Several parts of the image are tinted, including the woman's cheeks, the child's dress, and the doll's dress. The child's face is  bit blurred, suggesting that she moved during the exposure. (Tarnishing along edge, spotting and some clouding throughout, oxidation to mat; resealed.) Housed in a half pressed paper case. -- Standing portrait of a young girl wearing a pink-tinted dress, a red-tinted necklace, and a gold-highlighted bracelet, holding a beautifully-tinted flower basket. One hand holds the handle of the basket while the other is posed in the basket. Her hair is mostly slicked to either side, with individual ringlets pressed to her face. (Tarnishing around edge, minor spotting, else good; resealed.) Housed in a half pressed paper case. -- And 2 others. -- Together, 5 sixth plate daguerreotype portraits of subjects holding interesting or unusual objects.
