[POLITICS]. 3 letters signed by John FREMONT, Simon CAMERON, and Edwin STANTON.

CAMERON, Simon (1799-1889), US Secretary of War under Lincoln.  Autograph letter signed ("S.C."), to J. Maclean. Harrisburg, 23 July 1885. 1 page, 5 x 8 in., old folds, wear to margins. Cameron references an enclosed bill. -- Accompanied by autograph letter signed from Wm. Jack, to Simon Cameron. 1 May 1846. 1 page, 8 x 9 3/4 in., bifolium, old folds, with some separations at folds. Jack references an enclosed statement of the account of Wm. B. Foster as collector on the Canal at Pittsburgh. Integral leaf with free frank, addressed to Hon. Simon Cameron, US Senate, Washington, DC, postmarked Harrisburg, PA, 2 May. 

[With:] STANTON, Edwin (1814-1869), US Secretary of War under Lincoln. Autograph letter signed ("Edwin S. Stanton"), to Edwin L. DeLany. Washington, 20 July 1861. 1 page, 5 1/2 x 9 in., old folds, light wear to margins, later crayon note on verso. Stanton expresses his wishes to help Mr. DeLany with this academic pursuits, but regrettably informs him that he is not able to assist. He closes, "I shall rejoice at your success in life." Accompanied by original cover addressed to Edwin S. DeLany, Hopedale, Ohio, postmarked Washington, July 1861 (expected wear).

[With:] FREMONT, John C. (1813-1890), American explorer, military officer, US senator from California, first Republican nominee for president. Manuscript note indicating that Mr. Fremont is not well enough to keep his engagement with the Secretary of War, 1 April 1850. 1 page, 7 1/4 x 8 3/4 in., bifolium, old folds, occasional spotting, edge wear including some loss. Integral leaf addressed to "Hon. Mr. Crawford, Sec. of War," and signed ("J.C. Fremont"). 

[Also with:] CDV of a bearded fellow in military uniform. Boston: W. Shaw Warren. With modern penciled notation on verso tentatively identifying the subject as "Capt. Hamlin, Son of V.P." However, this identification cannot be confirmed.

Together, 5 items. Condition generally good.
