identified Phebe Adams to eglomise mat with central inscriptions reading To the memory of / Franklin Adams / He was born A- / April 7 1805 & died / Sep. 26 and To the memory of / Hannah Adams / She was born May / 20 1801 & died / October 15. 1802.
16 1/4 x 15 inches.
Genealogical records confirm that Hannah (1801-1802) and Franklin (1805-1805) were two children born to Daniel and Phebe Britton Adams. They are buried together at the Old Burying Ground in Arlington, Massachusetts.
A photograph of Phebe Adams Swann (1794-1841), an older sister of Hannah and Franklin and the maker of this needlework, is attached to the verso.
