.45 LC. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 119612. (Mfg. Ca 1887) Traces of nickel refinish to the frame and hammer with a brown patina dominating overall and mounting martially inspected one piece walnut stocks. Single-action loading gate revolver with six-shot cylinder and mismatched serial numbers typical of military issued Artillery Model revolvers. The barrel features black powder pattern rifling along with the correct early pattern of italicized address mark reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. A U.S stamp appears on the left frame beside the three-line three patent marking. The barrel shows P and A sub-inspector marks to the underside of the barrel and a serial number reading 4749. The barrel and ejector rod assembly are constructed for a correct locating stud, but the stud is not present. Ejector rod mounts a bullseye pattern head. Henry Nettleton's mark appears on the triggerguard below a serial number of 43767, while the rear gripstrap has a G sub-inspector mark below 115540. Cylinder marks include a weak serial reading 4532 to the flank of the cylinder and O and S stamps to the rear cylinder. A G stamp appears in the hammer recess and the loading gate has the assembly number 1845. The right stock shows a weak cartouche below a partial date marking reading 1902.
Very Good. Bore is Frosty with a brown patina throughout and strong rifling. Traces of nickel finish appear on the flanks of the hammer as well as on the flats of the frame. The remaining metal finish has taken on a deep brown patina. Light pitting is visible on the forward frame and at the muzzle. The right triggerguard and frame show some mars and indentations, and the butt of the pistol shows scattered dents overall. The lower edges of the grips are chipped and worn down with the grips showing handling wear. The action times and indexes correctly with a weak spring.
