Lot Description
Colt Model 1861 Navy Revolver

.36 caliber. 7.5" round barrel. SN: 30889 (mfg. ca1867). Blued and color casehardened finish, silver plated brass backstrap and triggerguard, one-piece walnut grip. Single action percussion revolver with six chambered smooth, round cylinder. Barrel marked in a single weak line: - ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA - with the lower left side of the frame marked COLT'S/PATENT and the left rear triggerguard web marked 36 CAL. Matching numbers throughout with the exception of the wedge and grip which are both unnumbered. Cylinder with much of the Texas and Mexican naval battle scene. Rear sight notch in nose of hammer, German silver blade front sight. Grip somewhat ill fitting. A nice honest example of a post-Civil War production "round barrel" Navy revolver.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition Report

Good. Bore good, dark and dirty, heavily oxidized but with good rifling. Metal with a mottled grayish patina with scattered surface oxidation and discoloration and hints of plum in protected areas. Barrel markings soft, cylinder scene strong and clear. Mechanically functional. Grip with moderate wear, some chips and dings and less than perfect fit along the backstrap.
