.45 Long Colt. 4.75" barrel length. SN: 141408. (Mfg. Ca. 1891) Casehardened refinish to the hammer and frame with the remaining parts showing a deep blue, niter blued screws and small parts, and mounting {Rampant Colt} logo hardrubber grips. Single-action hand ejector revolver with six-shot cylinder. Item mounts a black powder frame with screw retained cylinder pin, black powder rifling, and a kidney shaped ejector rod head. The left frame has been struck with the two line patent mark PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871./JULY 2. 72. JAN 19. 75 followed by the {Rampant Colt} within a circle logo. The G inspector stamp has been struck on the left triggerguard, and the left barrel is marked 45 COLT. The barrel displays the two line address mark reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO/HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. The frame has been struck with a 0 within the hammer recess. The base of both grip panels display the faint remnants of a signature.
Very Fine as Restored. Bore is Bright with crisp rifling throughout. Metal refinish shows few scattered mars including: spots of flecking at the top of the backstrap, a scratch below the caliber marking on the left barrel, a faint reassembly scratch beneath the barrel from the cylinder pin, a weakness to the finish in two small nicks along the right edge of the butt, few scattered light scratches to the casehardening. The cylinder has no visible drag line. Grip panels retain the fine details to the logos with some scattered light mars. The lower edge of the right panel has some bites in it. The action has not been tested in order to preserve the finish.
