** WWII-era Enfield R.O.F.M. No.4 Mk.1 Rifle in Sniper Configuration with Accessories and Scope
World War II
.303. 25.2" barrel length. SN: 14048. Blued metal finish with walnut stock featuring cuts to upper handguard and a beechwood cheek riser installed with screws atop a spliced comb stock. Bolt-action repeating rifle fed by a semi-detachable ten shot magazine and mounting a telescopic sight on a cast steel mount. The left receiver is marked R.O.F.M. No. 4. MK. 1. 1941. indicating manufacture by the Royal Ordnance Factory-Maltby in 1941 prior to the introduction of letter prefixes to the serial numbers. The serial numbers on the bolt, receiver ring, and the underside of the forend match. A scope mating number on the wrist reads 4110 and does not match the serial number marking on the scope of 21678. The scope markings read TEL.STG. No32 Mk3/0S.2039A. and has a red painted screw below the body. The rifle features the early pattern of receiver and the Mark I backsight with the battle sight milled off to accept the scope. Top of forend cap is struck J.B, both barrel bands CFW, and the forend and wrist marked S.L. Broad arrow markings are scattered overall with additionnal lightly struck military proof markings. The right muzzle shows civilian firing proof markings and the right side of the barrel shank is marked ENGLAND. The scope mounts feature P67 and P68 mating numbers with the rings, and the inside surface of the mount shows a {Broad Arrow} marking. Accompanying the rifle are the pressed steel storage case for the scope with the lid struck CASE.STG.TEL./No8 MARK.1./B.E.LTD 1941 OS906A followed by a {Broad Arrow} stamp. Some traces of white armorer markings on the lid are too degraded to read but the item retains much of its paint. Interior of the case shows some adhesive residue where the interior label once sat. The rifle comes with the wood storage chest. Chest has no extant paper label on it. Additionally included is a PRICE WESTERN LEATHER marked scope cover for the optic. Currently mounts a US pattern 1907 BOYT leather sling.

Condition Report
Good to Very Good. Bore is Bright with sharp rifling throughout. The metal finish displays edgewear overall along with some abrasions and scuffs on the forend cap, muzzle, and the barrel bands. Brown patina is forming over the upper barrel band with the middle one dominated by gray. The muzzle end of the barrel has some further patches of brown patina. The stock displays handling wear, mars, and scratches overall. A pattern of dents has formed at both flanks of the receiver and along the wrist. Stock additionally shows some stains on the butt. The buttplate shows some abrasions and mars along its length. Scope shows edgewear with some flakes to the paint over the eyepieces and flecking of the finish along the body. The mount shows a brown patina overall. The No 8 scope case has flaking to the paint on all edges along with some discolorations and mars. The wood chest lid has multiple large losses along the edge with some chipping and scratching to the remainder of the exterior. Traces of the original paint remain on the lid and the box flanks. The textile liner along the inside surfaces remains with some moth holes and some patched losses at the right side. The leather carry handles are cracked and show some wastage to the leather. Two replacement leather tabs have been installed inside the case to retain the lid. Leather sling shows some white residue from mold cultures along the inner surface matching that of the scope cover.
