.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 3415432. Parkerized metal finish overall with walnut semi-pistol grip stock and a blued finish on the mounted scope. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle with the receiver manufactured to support a REDFIELD marked scope base mounting an M73B1 telescopic sight. The manufacturer markings have been applied to the left side of the receiver just above the vent hole and read U.S. REMINGTON/MODEL 03-A3. The scope is hand scratched with the serial number 24650 to the right side below the builder's plate. Plate markings read TELESCOPE M73B1/PATD-PATS. PEND./W. R. WEAVER CO./EL PASO. TEX., U.S.A. The barrel has been cut for a front sight but none has been mounted and the cut Parkerized over, as is correct for these models. Furthermore, the rifling follows the two-groove pattern typical of Remington Produced 1903 barrels by 1943. Additionally, the stock features the front and rear stock screws typical of these rifles, and the bolt handle has been cut down in the standard pattern to prevent interfering with the scope. The barrel is marked and dated RA/{Ordnance Bomb}/6-43 on the top and shows a U stamp to the underside of the barrel. There are R stamps on the swivels and the right side of the forend cap. The rifle mounts a stamped triggerguard and plate, and an unmarked stamped checkered buttplate with trapdoor. The stock shows some rounding at the edges indicating possible arsenal refinish. The stock itself has been stamped RIA/EB within a box on the left butt. The semi pistol grip is stamped with a Circle P mark and a Z mark. Further stamps are visible on the forend next to the magazine and include M, U, and two faint boxed cartouches. The rifle comes with an MRT stamped canvas sling and an unmarked leather cover. The serial number of this lot falls within the range of rifles produced as 03-A4 sniper rifles by Remington.
Very Good as Arsenal Refinished. The bore is Very Bright with sharp rifling throughout and some streaks of patina forming at the muzzle. The Parkerized finish is abraded along the forward edge of the triggerguard, and shows some scattered light mars and dulled spots. Few further scratches forward of the handguard. Specks of brown patina forming toward the upper edges of the buttplate. The stock shows a chip at the comb on the right side where it meets the buttplate that has been sanded down, along with a rounded spot on the left comb causing the buttplate to protrude past the wood. All markings on the stock shows signs of being sanded down and thus weakened. Scope is functional, though the lenses are dusty and in need of cleaning. The body of the scope shows some light scratches and abrasions.
