A Queen Anne Carved Figured Maple and Birch Flat-Top High Chest of Drawers
Attributed to John Wheeler Geer, Preston, Connecticut, Circa 1770
The upper section with rope twist quarter columns and small can-carved drawers, the lower section with shaped apron, the cabriole legs carved with trifid feet.

Height 72 1/2 x width 39 3/4 x depth 20 inches.
This lot is located in Philadelphia.

Purchased from Israel Sack, Inc., New York, New York,
E. Ross (1894-1971) and Bessie S. Millhiser (1895-1987), Richmond, Virginia,
Kenneth (1924-2021) and Katherine Millhiser (b. 1937), Piedmont, California.

Note:
Other examples of John Wheeler Geer's work have previously sold at auction including a slant-front desk, offered from the Gail-Oxford Collection at Christie's New York (January 23, 2015, lot 127). Another example, a chest-on-chest, was offered from the collection of Alice and Murray Braunfeld (January 17, 2004, lot 1274). Each example exhibits near-identical spiral twist carved columns in the front corners of the case.
