[POLITICS IN AMERICA]. A group of 3 TLsS to C. Howard Travell, from THEODORE ROOSEVELT, FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT, and HERBERT H. LEHMAN.
One page annotated TLS ("T. Roosevelt"). "Oyster Bay, L. I.," 15 October 1898. (Creased, toned, few small losses and stains, mounted to modern brown cardstock). Addressed to "C. Howard Travell, Esq., Pres't. The Roosevelt Club, Troy, N. Y." In full: "I thank you heartily. I only hope that I shall speedily be able to arrange for such a meeting in which Governor Black and our other friends may be present." Roosevelt has made corrections in what appears to be his own hand.
One page TLS ("Franklin D. Roosevelt") as Governor of New York. Albany, [NY], 6 July 1932. ( Creased, few small imperfections, mounted on modern brown cardstock). Addressed to Dr. Howard Travell. On State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead. In full: "I am grateful to you for your letter, and I am happy in knowing that you will give me your help in the coming campaign."
One page TLS ("Herbert H. Lehman") as Lieutenant Governor of New York. Albany, NY, 8 October 1932. (Creased, minor staining, mounted on modern brown cardstock). Addressed to Dr. Howard Travell. On personalized letterhead. In full: "I want to thank you for your good wishes which I deeply appreciate. It is a source of great satisfaction to me to know that I have your support, and I hope to be able to avail myself of your kind offer to help."
