SOULE, William S. (1836-1908). A group of 4 CDVs of Wichita and Cheyenne subjects. Fort Sill, Indian Territory, ca late 1860s.

4 CDVs by William S. Soule, three of which include the verso imprint, "W.S. Soule, Fort Sill, Indian Territory." Subjects include: Caddo & Wichita women, including (from left to right) Nawatry, Dudu, and Ske-zitz. Hand-colored CDV, uncredited but known to be taken by Soule. (See BELOUS, Russell, & WEINSTEIN, Robert. Will Soule: Indian Photographer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, 1869-74. The Ward Ritchie Press, 1969, p. 71.) -- Young Wichita man, studio imprint on verso (some staining to bottom half of mount verso). -- Ba-e-tha (or Zah-e-cha) and Har-ke-l, Cheyenne, studio imprint on verso. (See BELOUS & WEINSTEIN, p. 95.) -- Kid-a-natts, Wichita woman, studio imprint on verso. (See BELOUS & WEINSTEIN, p. 67 for variant view.)

Together, 4 CDVs on cardstock mounts. Condition generally good, with some light fading to prints and occasional spotting/staining. Some mounts trimmed.
