Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Sixth plate tintype of a pair of Zouaves, one holding a fife.
Seated portrait of two soldiers wear Zouave-style jackets, posed affectionately. The one to the viewer's left holds a fife across his lap, and wears an 1840 NCO sword on his belt. He appears to have a dirk or side knife tucked behind his belt plate as well. The soldier to the viewer's right rests his hand on his buddy's shoulder, and wears a worsted wool sash tinted red, possibly signifying an NCO rank. (Spotting and wear to plate; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case with patriotic motif.
