The final image in the album presents a rare view of the grounds of the Valparaiso Male and Female College in Valparaiso, Indiana (verso imprint identifies the scene) (corners clipped).

The album contains 8 CDVs of Civil War soldiers and political leaders, several identified in the accompanying index. Subjects include: Abraham Lincoln. -- Ulysses S. Grant. -- Schuyler Colfax. -- William T. Sherman. -- James B. McPherson. -- Courtland Matson (identified in index), officer with 16th and 71st Indiana Infantries, 6th Indiana Cavalry, POW Atlanta, GA, 8/7/1864, confined at Macon, GA, and Columbia, SC. -- Edmund T. Smith (identified in index), officer with 16th and 71st Indiana Infantries, 6th Indiana Cavalry, POW Athens, GA, 8/3/1864, confined at Macon, GA, and Columbia, SC.

Additional highlights include a composite view entitled The American Presidents, a lithographed view of "Old Abe," the eagle mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry, and multiple artfully posed portraits of lovely young women, some identified.

Together, 50 CDVs housed in a single album, highlighted by images of identified officers who served with Indiana regiments and an early view of Valparaiso Male and Female College, which was founded in 1859.
