[CIVIL WAR]. John Ellsworth, Co. G, 25th Connecticut Infantry, discharge and certificate of record.
8 1/4 x 11 in., framed, partly printed discharge document, for John Ellsworth, Company G, 25th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry Regiment (creased, some small separations, not examined out of the frame). Hartford, CT, 26 August 1863. Signed by Philip Schuyler Jr. as First Lieutenant, 14th US Infantry. Embossed seal designates "Paid in Full / H. A. Lawyer / Paymaster / U.S.A."
8 1/2 x 19 in., framed, printed certificate of record for the same John Ellsworth (creased, pencil inscription to left margin, not examined out of the frame). Washington, DC, 4 May 1904. Signed by A. J. Klapp, Historian of the Soldiers and Sailors Historical and Benevolent Society. Embossed Society seal to lower left.
Ellsworth enlisted as a private on 29 August 1862, and mustered into Company G of the 25th Connecticut Volunteers in November of that month. He was discharged on 26 August 1863 and mustered out having served his 9 months' term.
[With:] MOLLUS certificate for John J. Brice, who served in the US Navy during the Civil War and eventually attained the rank of captain during the Spanish-American War (document stored rolled in a tube, creasing and rips/tears to edges). Philadelphia, PA, 1 October 1883.
