The newspapers contain reports involving politics and conflict in the years leading up to the Civil War, war-date developments, including battle reports, issues regarding abolition and enslavement, various advertisements highlighted by numerous ads for enslaved persons and runaways, etc.

Condition poor to good, and consistent with age and use. Many newspapers with toning, soiling, chipping and loss, some areas of partial and full separation. The sizeable volume of this collection will require special shipping or transportation arrangements.
