An extensive collection comprised of more than 200 newspapers printed in New Orleans, dating from the 1830s to 1870s. The newspapers contain reports involving politics and conflict in the years leading up to the Civil War, war-date developments, including battle reports, issues regarding abolition and enslavement, various advertisements highlighted by numerous ads for enslaved persons and runaways, etc.

New Orleans, LA. -- Daily True Delta, New Orleans, LA. -- St. Landry Democrat, Opelousas, LA. -- Sunday Delta, New Orleans, LA. -- New Orleans Republican, New Orleans, LA. -- The New-Orleans Times, New Orleans, LA. -- New Orleans Bulletin, New Orleans, LA. -- New Orleans Republican. Together, more than 200 newspapers from the Estate of Carroll J. Delery III, formerly the "Historical Shop," based in Metairie, Louisiana.
Condition poor to good, and consistent with age and use. Many newspapers with toning, soiling, chipping and loss, some areas of partial and full separation. The sizeable volume of this collection will require special shipping or transportation arrangements.
