[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Large collection of mostly paper photographs incl. cabinet cards, CDVs, etc.
More than 250 photographs including large format pints, cabinet cards, CDVs, carte-sized tintypes, and smaller formats, ranging in size from 41 1/2 x 8 in. to 1 x 1 in.
Highlights include 7 x 9 in. mounted silver gelatin print of a large group of ice workers posed on a large sled with tools and ice blocks. Caption printed in the negative reads, "How Would You Like To Be The Ice Man." Verso imprint credits the photo to William Haas, Military Photographer of St. Paul, MN (significant abrasion and image loss to right side, fading and soiling throughout, mount with significant wear). -- 8 x 6 in. mounted silver gelatin print of a baseball team wearing uniforms with letters "G. C" (print with chemical deterioration in areas, mount with heavy wear). -- 3 7/8 x 5 1/2 in. mounted silver gelatin print of two men holding instruments, one with a saxophone and the other with a violin. Mount blindstamped for Murdoch Bros, Windsor, Ontario. -- 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 in. silver print of a woman using an early telephone, holding the ear piece up to her ear with the box visible in the background. Mounted on a calling card for "Miss Alfreda Decker" (toning, some soiling and wear, wear to mount). -- 1 x 1 in. silver print of a man using the same type of phone in the same way. Sealed in a cardstock display with embossed floral motif (toning). -- And more than 200 others images. Conditions vary. Mostly portraiture.
