Lot Description
6 tintypes of western subjects incl. Native Americans, one in Fort Smith, AR imprinted sleeve.
2 x 3 1/4 in. tintype featuring a pair of men dressed in western clothing including hats, one being possibly Native American. Both pose with one hand resting on a velvet fringed studio chair. (Some bends and surface imperfections.) Housed in original sleeve with verso imprint of the Gannaway Brothers of Fort Smith, Arkansa (soiling, loss, separations). -- And 5 other tintypes presumed to also be from Fort Smith, Arkansas including one loose example featuring a Native American man wearing what appears to be a shell jacket and holding a book, a loose example featuring a pair of likely Native American ladies wearing Euro-American clothing, and a sleeved example featuring a young man with a mustache, wearing a vest and holding a hat in one hand and a knife in the other. Ranging in size from 2 x 3 in. to 2 9/16 x 3 3/4 in. Conditions vary. -- Together, 6 tintypes featuring western subjects, likely captured in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
