Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver
American Civil War

.36 Caliber. 7.5" barrel length. SN: 70879. (Mfg. Ca 1857) Blued and casehardened finish with iron gripstraps and Orsmby {Naval Engagement} engraved on the cylinder. Single action percussion six-shot revolver with octagonal barrel and brass bead front sight. The top of the barrel features Colt's -ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY- marking, while the left frame shows COLTS/PATENT mark. Serial numbers match on all parts, but item mounts a replacement non numbered wedge pin. Multiple screws have been replaced including: forward triggerguard screw, both upper rear gripstrap screws, hammer screw, wedge pin screw, and the loading lever mounting screw. Mounts synthetic ivory grips.

Condition Report

Good. Bore is Dark with patina and some scattered pitting throughout and strong rifling. The overall metal finish displays some weakness and roundness to the edges and a deep brown patina. Item shows some scattered nicks and mars to the edges of the metal work and deformations to the original screw heads. Grips are discolored with a chip along the lower edge of the right butt. All safety notches on the cylinder are worn flat. Action times and indexes correctly.
