.45 LC. 4.675" barrel length. SN: 89181. (Mfg. Ca 1883) Blued and color casehardened refinish overall with polished hammer flanks, replaced varnished walnut grips, and featuring the blackpowder pattern frame. Single-action loading gate revolver with six-shot cylinder mounting a kidney shaped ejector rod head and replaced barrel with smokeless powder rifling. The left frame shows the three-patent in three-line marking, and the left barrel has a weak 45 CAL marking with just the lower edges of the numbers still visible. The faint barrel address is in two lines and reads COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO/HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. The hammer has a replaced firing pin that has been ground down to a fine point, and the hammer flanks polished down to make it fit.
Good. Bore is Bright with crisp rifling throughout. Metal finish shows light edgewear on the frame, some muzzle wear, abrasions over the ejector rod head, and some scattered dings and mars. The Casehardening is fading to a gray patina on the rear recoil shield and on the edges. Grip finish is flaking on the edges of the butt, and the rear gripstrap has rounded edges indicative of buffing prior to refinish. The action times and indexes correctly, but the action fails to produce positive clicks and has a weak spring.
