Lot Description
1st Generation Colt Single Action Army Rebuilt in .38 Special

.38 Special. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 117646. (Mfg. Ca 1886) Blued metal finish with casehardened frame and hammer, and mounting replacement one piece varnished maple grips. Single-action loading gate revolver that has rebuilt and refinished using an antique frame. Item features a black powder frame to which is mounted a replacement barrel and a modern cylinder with the {Rampant Colt} logo on the rear face. Item mounts a kidney shaped ejector rod head, and shows the three patents in three lines marking on the left frame. The forward gripstrap has been drilled for a pin hole to mount one piece grips but no pin is present. Triggerguard retains traces of the 45 CAL marking. Replacement barrel is struck COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL on the left side and COLT'S MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. The hammer recess shows a G initial.

Condition Report

Good as Refinished. Bore is Very Bright with sharp rifling throughout. Metal finish shows handling wear, mars, and abrasions scattered overall. Barrel has some muzzle wear, spotted discolorations, and some traces of pinpoint pitting at the left muzzle. The frame shows faint case colors overall with the friction surfaces taking on a silver gray patina. The gripstraps have edgewear and handling mars, and a brown patina forming on the backstrap. Grips are undersized for the frame and leave the edges of the metal protruding. Action times and indexes correctly with a tight lockup.
