Lot Description
Colt Model 1849 Pocket with Bone Grips
American Civil War
.31" Caliber. 4" barrel length. SN: 165189. Blued and casehardened metal finish with silver plated brass gripstraps and mounting bone grips. Single action percussion revolver with five-shot cylinder, octagonal barrel, and mounting a loading lever. Item mounts a brass bead front sight, and features Ormsby's {Stagecoach Hold Up} scene on the cylinder along with safety pins on the rear cylinder. Barrel address is bracketed and reads in two lines {ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY}. The left frame is marked COLTS/PATENT, with serial numbers matching on all components except for the replaced loading lever. The loading lever is non numbered, and the arbor pin shows crisp machine markings suggesting it was replaced and force matched to the revolver.
