Lot Description
Pair of Large Bore European Percussion Overcoat Pistols
.69 caliber. 8" pinned octagonal barrels. SN: NSN. Bright finish, iron furniture, European hardwood stocks. Single shot percussion muzzleloading pistols. Unmarked percussion locks from the early percussion period with the apperance of earlier flint locks but not showing the expected modifications of a percussion alteration. Barrels with unidentified maker's touchmarks on the top flat and the left angle breech. Steel triggerguard, ramrod pipes and butt cap. Stock form that of French officer's pistols circa 1820s-1840s. Wrists with oval escutcheons, one of what appears to be bone, the other likely replaced and of a light colored wood. Both include wooden ramrods that appear to be of more recent vintage.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
