Lot of 2 Belgian Percussion SxS Shotguns Including: Gold Inlaid Franz Baader Shotgun
1.) Belgian Percussion SxS - 12 gauge. 32" barrels. SN: 8474. Browned metal finish. Walnut stock has checkering to straight grip and a plain splinter forearm. Percussion side by side sidelock shotgun with double triggers, high spur hammers, solid rib, and bead front sight. Lockplates, triggerguard, and upper tang have simple scroll engravings. Item does not have any visible manufacturer marks aside from a serial number to lower tang and what appears to be a Belgian le perron proof to left barrel. Includes a modern brass tip wood ramrod.
2.) Early 19th Century Percussion SxS by Franz Baader of Munchen - 16 gauge. 30.75" barrels. SN: 11. Gold/black/brown case hardened finish to metal overall. Figured walnut stock has checkering to straight grip and splinter forearm, with carved cheek rest and a carved triggerguard. Percussion side by side sidelock shotgun with a .625" wide barrel rib and silver bead front sight. Item features double triggers, double high spur hammers, and a horn tipped wood ramrod. Markings include IN MUNCHEN in banner to left lockplate, F. BAADER in banner to right lockplate, and F. BAADER IN MUNCHEN to barrel rib, all in gold. Upper tang is marked 11, and there is what appears to be a boxed {crown/crossed swords} makers mark ca.1845 according to Stockel, to center of breech plug. Bottom of barrel is marked with several Belgian proofs as well as serial number and barrel dimensions.
