.30-40 Krag. 30" barrel. SN: 57056 (Mfg. ca1896). Blued finish, full-length straight gripped smooth walnut stock with grasping grooves. Bolt action military rifle with side loading fixed internal magazine. Receiver is marked in a single line: MODEL 1896 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 57056. Only the weakest outline of a cartouche is visible but a decent "Circle-P" is present behind the triggerguard. Rifle is equipped with the 1896 long range ladder rear sight, a blade front sight on a tall base, two sling swivels and a stacking swivel. Butt trap is void of implements. A leather pattern 1887 sling is included.
