U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Rifle with Barracks Rod
.45-70 Government. 32.5" barrel length. SN: 361333. Blued metal finish and case hardened finish to receiver. Wood stock has a plain straight grip and forearm with double barrel bands. Breechloading rifle with M1884 Buffington rear sight and blade front sight. Item features a low arch breech cover, three click tumbler, serrated trigger, two piece triggerguard, and stacking swivels. Markings include US/MODEL/1884 to breech cover, US/SPRINGFIELD and spread eagle to lockplate, and V/P/{eagle head} to barrel. Stock is marked with a boxed SWP/1888 Samuel W. Porter inspector cartouche to left side of wrist, and circle P proof to bottom of grip. Heel of buttplate is marked US. Included with item is slotted steel cleaning rod and a wooden barracks cleaning rod.
