Lot Description
Indian Coorg Matchlock

.60" caliber. 52" barrel length. SN: NSN. Browned metal finish, full length wood stock with octagonal barrel and featuring the typical oversize wood butt. Single shot smoothbore matchlock featuring a rear aperture sight below a notch and twin copper supports for front sight. The barrel is secured by two metal barrel bands and three leather bands. Four additional metal bands adorn the forend, each one displays some light punch dot embellishments following geometric patterns. The spaces between the bands are mounted with sunburst shaped copper discs set between triangular patterns of iron tacks. The butt is heavily tacked with further metal inlaid over the wrist, comb, and toe. The tacks used to secure embellishments surrounding the tickler remain, but the metal work has broken off this portion of the firearm. The touch hole retains an engraved folding cover.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition Report

Some spots of oxidation forming over the top of the barrel at the muzzle and the upper barrel band. The stock shows handling wear, dings, and mars overall. The edges of the enlarged butt are chipped. The serpentine functions but is missing the spring.
