**Winchester Model 1886 Take Down Rifle in .45-70
.45-70. 22" barrel. SN: 120557 (Mfg. ca.1899-1900). Blued finish, color casehardened hammer and lever, smooth pistol-gripped walnut stock with shotgun butt, hard rubber Winchester grip cap and buttplate and smooth forend. Lever action tubular magazine fed repeating rifle with semi-buckhorn elevation adjustable leaf rear sight and Lyman dovetailed crescent blade and white bead front sight. Barrel marked in two lines, forward of the rear sight MANUFACTURED BY THE/ - WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. -. Barrel additionally marked NICKEL STEEL on the left side under the rear sight and with the caliber .45-70 forward of the chamber. Upper tang marked WINCHESTER MODEL 1886. Grip strap with serial number and two line OCT 14, 1884/JAN 20, 1885 patent marking. Take down lever marked - PAT. JUNE 6, 1893. -
