Lot Description
**Winchester Model 42 Skeet Number 5 Engraved Shotgun with Extra Barrel
.410 Gauge. 26" barrel length. SN: 164272. 3" chamber length. Modified Choke. Blued metal finish with jeweled bolt and elevator mounting AAA grade walnut semi-pistol grip stocks with bordered diamond checkering to wrist and forend. Slide-action repeating shotgun fed by an internal tube magazine. Shotgun displays classic Winchester Number 5 engraving on the flanks of the receiver with hunting scenes enclosed by foliate scroll engraving and a stippled ground. The left side shows two pointers pursuing rising pheasants within a clearing while the right is adorned by two hunting dogs pursuing a fleeing hare. Gold inlaid initials on the triggerguard read CLM with the gold oval plate to toe engraved HERB/WARD. Hardrubber pistol grip cap reads WINCHESTER REPEATING/ARMS CO. Shotgun mounts a full length vented barrel rib with two-dot sights and WINCHESTER marked shock absorbing buttplate. Standard make and model markings include -MODEL 42- marking to the barrel and SKEET below the caliber marking. Comes with a serial number matching extra barrel with an identical rib and sights, 26" length, and Full choke.

Condition Report
Good. Mounted barrel shows firing residues throughout the bore that should clean to Very Bright or better with extra barrel displaying a Very Bright bore. Metal finish displays some flecks of brown patina forming in the matting on top of the barrel rib and receiver, spot of oxidation on the left side of the barrel rib seam at receiver, and some flecking to the finish on the receiver flanks. Serial number on the receiver shows some weakness. Some light cycling wear on both barrels. Wood furniture shows some light indentations on the toe of the stock, and on the left wrist. Forends display light signs of handling. Extra barrel displays some oxidation and patina forming on the barrel threads and in the engraving on the rear barrel.
