Lot Description
**Colt New Service Target .45 Colt Revolver Made in 1915
.45 Colt. 7.5" barrel. SN: 79416 (mfg. ca.1915). Blued finish, checkered walnut target grips with fleur-de-lis scalloped boarders and silver Rampant Colt medallions. Double action flat top frame target revolver with windage adjustable notch rear sight and pinned blade front sight. Two-line barrel address reads: COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT USA/PAT'D AUG. 5, 1884, JUNE 5, 1900, JULY 4, 1905. Left side of barrel roll marked NEW SERVICE 45 COLT. Rampant Colt logo on left rear of frame, matching serial numbers on inner frame and crane. Grips are numbered 79419, almost certainly a factor error inverting the "6" at the end of the serial number and making it a "9". Checkered backstrap and front strap, checkered trigger face, service hammer with sides polished bright. Top strap is smooth with index lines for the adjustable rear sight. A lovely condition example of a relatively scarce large bore New Service Target revolver made before American entered World War I. Only 3,400 Target Model New Service Revolvers were produced between 1900 and 1940.
