Lot 350
Lot of 2 CDVs, the first, a studio view of "Texas Jack," as captioned on mount lacking a photographer's imprint, but possibly from the Gurney Studio, likely taken between 1874-1875 when Cody and Omohundro toured with their combination troupe; and a portrait of Texas Jack's wife Giuseppina Morlacchi, verso credit to Bradley & Rulofson, San Francisco, ca 1877-1878. Morlacchi was an Italian ballet dancer who was cast in the first performance of the Buffalo Bill Combination in Chicago in 1872. She married Texas Jack in 1873 and continued to tour with the company until his death in 1880.
Texas Jack (1846-1880) made his way out West working as a cowboy in Texas during the late 1860s. He was a US Army Scout at Fort McPherson with Cody and was one of the original stage performers in the Buffalo Bill Combination in the 1870s.
