Single shot smoothbore percussion muzzleloading musket altered to shotgun with shortened barrel and stock, all barrel bands removed and an added bead front sight. Lock with a {Spread-Winged Eagle}/US below the bolster and marked in three vertical lines at the tail HARPERS/FERRY/1850. No visible date on the tang, breech with V/P/{Eagle Head} proofs, no additional Harpers Ferry inspections visible on the barrel. No cartouches present. Barrel secured by tang screw only. No sling swivels or ramrod are present.
