Lot Description
Lot of Two Mid-19th Century European Officer's Swords
1.) French Infantry Officer Model 1845 Saber - 28.75" blade length. 34" overall with hilt. Slightly curved single edged sword with spearpoint tip and double fullers running the full length of the blade. Back of the blade is signed with a weak Klingenthal manufacturer marking with single letter inspection stamps to the ricasso indicating French manufacture. Front of the guard is marked XIIII. Item features a brass guard with two-piece knuckle bow, Turkshead pommel, and pierced guard with three floral buds and engraved leaf patterns.

2.) French Model 1821 Officer Saber - 28.5" blade length. 34.5" overall with hilt. Straight slightly curved single edge saber with double fullers 5.5" false edge, and mounting a brass hilt with Turkshead pommel and guard with a single branch and one piece knuckle bow. Sword is unmarked, and displays a floral bud quillon, floral embellishments to the seams of the guard, and olive branches along the pommel. Hilt composed of a leather wrapped wood core with wire binding.
