Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Pair of sixth plate ambrotypes of children, possibly Italian immigrants.
A pair of sixth plate ambrotype portraits with fine hand tinting including one showing a pair of young boys, the youngest wearing a cap and holding an Italian flag in his hand; and the other showing a young girl standing next to a table surmounted by an unknown object appearing to be made of leather and fabric details. (Both images with very few imperfections, good clarity.) Housed together in a double pressed paper case (significant surface wear, nearly fully separated at spine with fabric repair). Both table cloths are tinted light green, and the flag held by the youngest boy is tinted red and green. The children's clothing and props suggest that they could be Italian immigrants.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
