Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A pair of sixth plate daguerreotypes of mothers with their children.
An endearing portrait of a mother and child - the mother wearing a bonnet and posed at an angle, looking down and smiling upon the full-faced young child on her lap. (Minor imperfections, light spotting to mat; resealed 1992.) Housed in a Scarce octagonal Union case, Geometric [Berg 3-570] (some nicking to edges, loose closure, discoloration to velvet pad). -- A somewhat cold portrait of a stony-faced mother and her cross-looking child. The two sit next to each other holding hands, but their facial expressions do not reflect a happy photo session. (Significant tarnishing to edges and oxidation to mat; resealed 2019.) Housed in a Common octagonal Union case, Geometric [3-212] (soiling, some nicking to edges).
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
