"Stars in our Southern Firmament" map, and music for "Our Country's Voice" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Freedmen’s aid societies played a central role in uplifting formerly enslaved persons, with a strong focus on education. Christian organizations comprised of both Black and white members were at the heart of this endeavor.
