Lot Description
A Louis Philippe gilt-bronze mounted flame-figured mahogany secrétaire à abattant, Paris, 1830
With porfido nero marble top, over frieze drawer with Neoclassical gilt bronze mounts, above fall-front over three drawers with cornucopia escutcheons and lion ring pulls, flanked by cylindrical columns, on bun feet.

Condition Report
with wonderful figuring to wood grain; with some occasional minor areas of loss to veneer; the left-facing side with splitting along rear edge, which runs the length of side, the right-facing side with similar splitting in same area, but not as severe; the bronze mounts are well cast and present very nicely, with some having more patinated or oxidized surfaces; fall front with small repaired break along hinge attachment; the embossed leather writing surface is replaced, with minor rippling; the left-facing column is somewhat loose; minor knicks and scuffs along bottom front commensurate with age and use; the marble top in nice condition overall, with minor occasional softened chips or losses along edges, and presently with candle wax accumulation / build-up toward right-facing side, which would need to be cleaned off; includes original key
