An Italian Baroque carved walnut angel, 17th century
Originally adorning a church altarpiece.

H: 37 in. W: 27 in. D: 14 in.
This lot is located in Philadelphia.

From the personal collection of a Florentine Gentleman Collector.
Condition Report
showing expected wear commensurate with age and use, including scattered occasional old worm holes, and seamed construction throughout; along with scattered age cracks; the left-facing hand with repaired breaks to fingers; the right-facing arm with repaired break to shoulder; the left-facing bottom side of drape with chip and repaired break; the tip of hair on left-facing side with repaired break; the right-facing wing with several repaired breaks; right-facing wing has been reattached and reinforced with later screws; the back and underside include holes where the piece would have been doweled into place on an altarpiece or larger fixture- the piece does not sit on its own; would have originally held a trumpet or another musical instrument, which is no longer present
