Engraved plan with hand-coloring. Matted and hinged, sheet 279 x 445 mm.
A highly detailed plan of Charleston, South Carolina published in the 1807 atlas of Marshall's seminal six-volume biography of Washington. The Siege of Charleston marked one of the worst American losses of the war after the British forces, led by General Sir Henry Clinton, successfully besieged and captured the city, leading to the surrender of over 5,000 Continental troops.
