(xvi), 416, (4, De scriptus and errata) pp. Full contemporary brown calf, decorated in blind, spine label perished, extremities and boards rubbed, spine ends worn, soiling and scratching to boards; red speckled edges; front paste-down and portions of front free endpaper and first free leaf excised; front hinge worn; first quire starting; contemporary ownership signature on title-page, now crossed out, old ownership initials on same; small worming in lower gutter of most leaves; small loss in bottom corner of Ccc2, just touching some letters. STC 11671

Second edition of Thomas Gataker's influential work on lotteries. First published in 1619, Gataker's work is an historical and theological treatise on lots, and it provoked considerable controversy due to his support for lotteries in secular and recreational matters.
