Nocturne Palaces
etching and drypoint printed in dark brownish black on ivory laid paper
circa 1879-80. Edition of approximately 54, in all states combined. Signed with butterfly monogram and inscribed imp on the tab. MacDonald's twelfth state (of 12), with the butterfly in the plate, lower left. A beautiful, atmospheric impression of this extremely scarce, important etching, with all the details distinct and richly-inked.
