A Roman Marble Torso of Eros

Circa Second Half of 2nd Century A.D.

Height 9 1/2 inches (24 cm).

Condition Report

Intact as preserved. The figure's head, legs, head of bird, and proper right wing now lost with uneven breaks; tip of the figure's proper left wing is lost. Losses to proper right forearm, elbow, and back of figure's wing. Some chips, pitting, and abrasions from weathering in antiquity. Glossy surface with encrustation and brownish, slightly dirty patina. The proper left leg is drilled to accommodate a dowel on a modern black stand. Height with base 14 inches. Overall fine stable condition.
