A Roman Marble Portrait Head of a Woman
Circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
Height 10 1/2 inches (26 cm).

Condition Report
Intact with restorations to the face; the nose has been restored, other patches of restoration across the face particularly on the lips and proper left cheek. The material used for restoration appears to be cement or a rough plaster; the nose is of modern material and adhered using the same material for infill. Overall weathered surface with roots marks. Dark circular stain on the proper left side of jaw; old label adhesive stain to proper right cheek. Some chips and abrasions throughout with minor loss to the chin. Old accession number to underside of neck. Labels affixed to proper right side near neck; one being Coll. Ernest Brummer, P. 284. Elements of the face such as the eyes are well preserved. The break at the neck is uneven and drilled for a metal dowel to accommodate a modern base. Height with base 18 inches. Overall in stable condition.
