A group of 6 handheld telescopes found in the workshop of George W. Fitz, Peconic, New York.
1 5/8 in. German triple-draw wood and brass telescope. Body tube length approx. 27 3/4 in. Munich, mid 19th century. With lens cap. Engraved on tube near eyepiece, "M. Woerle in Kohlgrub bu München."
[With:] 1 1/4 in. single-draw brass and leather naval officer's telescope. (Crack to lens, Leather deteriorating with losses.) Body tube length 22 1/2 in. 19th century. Engraved on tube near eyepiece, "Officer of the Deck Spy Glass, N, No. 267."
[With:] 1 1/4 in. double-draw brass telescope. Body tube length approx. 22 7/8 in. 19th century.
[With:] 1 1/4 in. triple-draw brass and aluminum telescope. Body tube length approx. 22 3/8 in. 19th century.
[With:] [1 1/2 in.] double-draw wood and brass telescope. (Lacking lens.) Body tube length 17 7/8 in. 19th century.
