Lot Description
Vanranseler R. Champney, Company A, 149th Pennsylvania Infantry "Bucktails." Civil War stencil.
3 3/8 x 1 1/4 in. stencil (several bends and spots of discoloration). Stencil reads, "V.R. Champney. / Co. A. 149. R.P.B.V." (149th Regiment Pennsylvania Bucktail Volunteers).
Vanranseler R. Champney, of Tioga County, PA, mustered into Company A, 149th Pennsylvania on 15 August 1862. He transferred into the Veteran Reserve Corps on New Year's Day of 1865. The 149th panel on the Pennsylvania monument at Gettysburg lists Private Champney as present during the momentous battle.
